Retailing was once great in Buffalo, New York. This blog is about the history of former retailers, coinciding with the new book "Nine Nine Eight: The Glory days of Buffalo Shopping" coming out May 5, 2007 by local author Mike Rizzo.

I have an old autograph book that belonged to my grandmother who worked at Hens & Kelly - not sure of what location. Her name was Beatrice Duca and I came upon some amazing ink drawings in her autograph book by a Eddie McKeating. I seem to think he was possibly an elevator operator, but not entirely sure. Does his name ring a bell with anyone? The dates in the autograph book are 1925. The ink pictures are beautiful and I hope he continued to use his talents. Karen Lillis
