Retailing was once great in Buffalo, New York. This blog is about the history of former retailers, coinciding with the new book "Nine Nine Eight: The Glory days of Buffalo Shopping" coming out May 5, 2007 by local author Mike Rizzo.

Without a doubt, Cavages Records in the Seneca Mall always seemed to have good stuff.
I have so many fond memories of shopping as a little girl at AM&A's, both downtown (a special trip - especially at Christmas when they had the window displays), and the one on Sheridan, where they had the peanut stand in the center. My sister and I always got a quarter pound of warm spanish peanuts. We used to shoe shop there too. Just the feeling of walking into the stores and the quality of the salespeople.
